BUS in S. America

Spostarsi in Sud America Aereo o autobus. Ovviamente nel volare si risparmia tempo ma non denaro, mentre con l'autobus e' tutto il contrario. Noi abbiamo tempo. Non avendo nel paese una rete ferroviaria, gli autobus sono I mezzi di trasporto piu usati, anche dai locali. Ce ne sono di diversi livelli: letto (cama), semi letto (semi-cama) con o senza servizio pasti. Il bagno c'e' sempre ma accetta solo rifiuti organici liquidi... quindi bisogna organizzarsi per tempo. Quello che abbiamo preso noi e' a due piani, non affollato, super comodo, con sedili grandi come poltrone, reclinabili al punto da formare un letto e con pasti inclusi. Siamo partiti la mattina verso le 11 da Buenos Aires e siamo arrivati a Puerto Madryn la mattina del giorno dopo mangiati e dormiti. In realta' eravamo in fase di ripresa da un'intossicazione da cibo passata a letto tutto il giorno prima con febbre e mal di pancia. Fare lo zaino, di solito un compituccio da 15 minuti, e' stata un'impresa. A questo punto non sappiamo che sapore abbia il panino con prosciutto e formaggio del pranzo, e tanto meno l'arrosto ripieno della cena. Io non li ho nemmeno voluti vedere, Pietro gli ha dato una sniffata sola; ci siamo accontetati delle nostre banane e crakers, tanto per mantenere 'il rifiuto liquido'. Abbiamo avuto un piccolo imprevisto durante il viaggio, anche se una volta all'ostello abbiamo scoperto di non essere stati gli unici, infatti succede 'a volte' che questi autobus abbiano problemi in viaggio. Il nostro e' semplicemente scoppiato, causando una fuori-uscita di acqua dal distributore interno per l'acqua potabile e lo scoperchiarsi di un pannello di copertura della pancia del bus. Si sono fermati e i due autisti aiutati da alcuni passeggeri hanno eseguito la riparazione: e' stato asciugato il pavimento bagnato e riattaccato il pannello con dei fili di ferro presi in prestito da una staccionata di una stazione di polizia. Tempo 30 minuti e siamo ripartiti. Ma chi li ferma a questi?!

Moving around South America How to move around South America? Airplane or bus. Obviously by flying one can save time but not money, while by bus it's the other way around. We have time. As the country doesn’t have a train system, the buses are the most used form of transportation, even by locals. They have different services and typologies: bed (cama), semi-bed (semi cama) with or without meals. There is always a bathroom, but it accepts only liquid organic waste... therefore you need to get organised before hand. (Ash, we have been thinking about 'the famous episode' haha!) The bus we took is double-level, not crowded, really comfy, with spacious sites as armchairs, that are reclinable to become a bed and with meals included. We left from Buenos Aires in the morning around 11 and we arrived at Puerto Madryn the morning after having eating and slept. In reality we were recovering after food poisoning as we spent the day before in bed with fever and tummy ache. Packing, usually an easy task of 15 mins, turned into a nightmare. At this stage we don't know the taste of the cheese and ham sandwich we had for lunch, nor the filled roast beef for dinner. I didn't even want to look at them, Pietro only had a little sniff of them; we were happy with our bananas and crackers, just to keep the 'liquid waste'. We had a little accident with the bus during the trip, even though once we arrived at the hostel we found out that we weren’t the only ones; in fact it happens 'at times' that these buses have problems on duty. Our bus exploded, causing a leakage of water from the drinking water machine, and tore off of a panel from the belly of the bus. They stopped and the two drivers with the help of some passengers executed the repair: one dried the floor inside and the other fixed the panel with iron wire borrowed from the fence of the police station. After 30 mins we were on the road again. Who can stop them?!
