"Seamos realistas. Soñemos lo imposible" - Ernesto Guevara detto “Che” ("Siamo realisti. Sognamo l'impossibile.")
Casa del Che y Milonga AltaGracia (4)Near Cordoba there is Alta Gracia, a village famous for several reasons: for the national museum of the Jesuits Estancia with an artificial lake, for the house-museum of Dupre (French-Argentinean sculptor), but, above all, for the house-museum of Ernesto Guevara, known as 'Che'. (After nearly two months strolling around Argentina, I understand the importance of the expression 'che', which is used colloquially by most Argentineas before or after a sentence. So Ernesto as a good Argentinian had the same habit of using it.) We caught a local bus for few pesos, that took half an hour, just the time for a nap (honestly I don't know what it's going on as every time we get on a bus we faint!) The central square of Alta Gracia, World Heritage, consists in the church, the clock tower with inside the information center, the artificial lake and the farm of the Jesuits. We walked for 15 minutes to get to Villa Nydia, which since 2001 has opened its doors as a house-museum of Che. AltaGracia (15)In every room, there is a stage of his personal story and public history experienced by Ernestito: from the childhood at Alta Grazia, to the last fight in Bolivia, through its two historical trips in South America. We liked the museum as it was well made, well told, with no frills, full of pictures and phrases that become part of History. There were only a couple of cheesy videos, which have left us a bit perplexed (how generous and good he was in his early age!), but in general, it was a way to understand and contextualize events and historical facts. We had a knowledge made of anecdotes and stories. IMG_81222685271649At night we went to dance Milonga, in the magic context of Cabildo of Cordoba. A night of tango, pizzettas and red wine (it was all included in the ticket), where we did 'four steps' of dancing with experts of milonga. A perfect day! "Seamos realistas. Soñemos lo imposible" (We are realistic. We dream the impossible) – Ernesto Guevara AKA “Che”.
