Rio in due parole e' vitalità, rilassatezza e divertimento. C'è da dire che io sono andata tra il mondiale di calcio e le olimpiadi, due impegni internazionali che hanno cambiato e spinto la città a rifarsi il trucco, spesso non con le buone.
Per esempio io ero in un ostello dietro la spiaggia di Copacabana, proprio all'inizio della strada che porta a Cantagalo, una delle tre favelas 'pacificate' della zona: ho sempre girato tranquillamente da sola, di notte camminando da una spiaggia all'altra e dalla metro all'ostello.
Matta?
Forse! Ma sinceramente tra polizia, omoni della sicurezza dei vari alberghi e luci in strada, c'è solo da camminare dritti e tenere gli occhi aperti, come in tutte le altre città del mondo, ovviamente senza andare a sbirciare che aria tira nelle favelas.
Sono andata sola, ufficialmente, ma in questo fine settimana ho incontrato dei ragazzi brasiliani conosciuti durante altri viaggi: Ronian incontrato in Argentina al El Chalten, e anche qui si e' rivelato un compagno di camminate perfetto, come la prima sera ad Ipanema bevendo l'acqua di cocco o nei 7 km della laguna Freire; poi Roberta e Hilton, due carioca conosciuti al Salar di Uyuni, che mi hanno fatto compagnia con un o due choop (birra in bicchiere) in centro, un piacere rii-incontrarli.
Rio mi ha emozionata con le spiagge di Copacabana, Ipanema e Leblon, popolose a tutte le ore con persone che fanno sport, con gli schermi che danno partite di calcio e telenovelas, con i chioschi di caipirinhas pronte anche alle 10 di mattina; il Pao de Azucar e le sue teleferiche; il Cristo Redentor anche se quando sono andata era coperto da un mantello di nuvole.
Durante la visita grazie al vento si e' mostrato a tratti per la gioia dei turisti alla ricerca delle scatto perfetto – qualcuno ha anche gridato al miracolo. Le mie foto sembrano un'opera di photoshop, io, il cristo e tutto grigio dietro.
Incredibili e da brivido i quartieri di Santa Teresa e Lapa: posti su delle colline ripidissime – come tutto Rio del resto, sono caratteristici ed effervescenti con i loro locali notturni e la samba cantata, suonata e ballata in strada. Yeah!
A Lapa c'è anche la famosa scala Seleron, che e' una scala ricoperta di maioliche e ceramiche dell'omonimo artista cileno, un angolo colorato del quartiere.
Rio de Janeiro viene chiamata la città meravigliosa, adesso so perché.

Rio in two words is vitality, relaxation and fun. By the way, I went between the World Cup and the Olympics, two international commitments that have changed and pushed the city to do some make-up, often with no good manners.
For example, I was in a hostel behind Copacabana beach, right at the beginning of the road leading to Cantagalo, one of the three 'pacified' favelas in the area: I always went around by myself even at night walking from one beach to another and from the Metro to the hostel. Crazy? Maybe!
Honestly between police, big security men of the various hotels and the lights in the street, one needs just to straight walk and keep the eyes open, as in all other cities in the world, obviously without going to peep around in the favelas.
I went by myself, officially, but in this weekend I met some Brazilian guys I met during other trips: Ronian met in Argentina in El Chalten (and again he proved to be the perfect companion for walks and sightseeing like on the first evening at Ipanema beach, drinking coconut water or within the 7 km of the lagoon Freire); Roberta and Hilton, two carioca known at the Salar de Uyuni, who kept me company with one or two Choop (beer glass) in the center, a real pleasure to see them again.
I was excited to be in Rio. This city has definitely good vibes with the beaches of Copacabana, Ipanema and Leblon, populated at all hours with people doing sport, with the screens that show football matches and soap operas, with kiosks serving caipirinhas even at 10 in the morning. It was great to visit the Pao de Azucar and its cable cars; the Cristo Redentor although when I went it was covered by a
mantle of clouds. During the visit due to the wind he shown at times for the delight of tourists waiting for the perfect shot - someone has even cried for a miracle.

Other highlights are the amazing and thrilling neighborhoods of Santa Teresa and Lapa: places on steep hills - like all of Rio, are characteristic and effervescent with their clubs and samba that sung, played and danced on the streets. Yeah!
Lapa is also famous for the Seleron stairs, this is a ladder covered with tiles and ceramics, named after the Chilean artist, a colorful corner of the district.
Rio de Janeiro is called the wonderful city, now I know why.
