Ecuador – Goodbye?
Da Otavalo abbiamo preso un bus per arrivare a Tulcan, circa 4 ore in totale per arrivare alla frontiera con la Colombia. La dogana dell'Ecuador e' aperta 24 ore, che non e' comune, ma ci sono solo due impiegati che non riescono a gestire la lunga fila di chi entra e chi esce dal paese.
Per quanto ci riguarda, arrivato finalmente il nostro turno, abbiamo scoperto che non eravamo nel sistema: apparentemente entrando nel paese dal sud, nello specifico da La Balsa, i sistemi non vengono aggiornati, quindi noi non esistevamo... la sclerotica dietro la sua finestrella ci ha impiegato diversi minuti ad individuare i timbri d'entrata nel paese sul passaporto, dopo di che ci ha ordinato di andare a fare tre copie delle pagine del passaporto con foto e timbro e tornare, senza fare la fila. Tutto questo strillando al di la del vetro, credo insonorizzato, facendo sapere a tutti la nostra situazione.
Comunque senza commentare facendole notare che il problema e' il loro 'quindi bella stai calma' , abbiamo obbedito. Una volta rientrati l'altro impiegato (erano due no?) ha chiamato l'ufficio de la Balsa per confermare che eravamo nel paese da 20 giorni, mentre noi eravamo parcheggiati sulle sedie della sala d'aspetto, peggiorando la fila gia' pessima.
Siamo passati, o meglio siamo riusciti ad uscire dal paese. Una volta fuori abbiamo pranzato alle 4 pm tirando fuori il nostro kit da picnic.

From Otavalo we caught a bus to get to Tulcan, about 4 hours in total to reach the border with Colombia. The customs of Ecuador is open 24 hours, which is not common, but there are only two employees - who cannot handle the long queue of people entering and leaving the country.
As finally came our turn, we discovered that we were not in the system: apparently when entering the country from the south, specifically from La Balsa, the systems are not updated, so we did not exist ... the sclerotic lady behind her window took several minutes to locate the entry stamps on the passport. After that he commanded to us to go and make three copies of passport pages with photo and stamp and come back, without queuing. All this screaming beyond the glass, I think soundproof, letting everyone know our situation.
However without commenting this by pointing out that the problem was theirs so 'sunshine calm down', we obeyed. Once back, the other employee (were two, weren't they?) called the office of la Balsa to confirm that we were in the country for 20 days, while we were parked on the chairs in the waiting room, worsening the queue already bad.
We made it, or rather we were able to leave the country. Once outside we had lunch at 4 pm pulling out our kit picnic.
