Abbiamo vissuto a San Antonio, l'unico 'barrio' (quartiere) che mantiene lo stile coloniale nella citta'. Dopo le prime due notti in due ostelli diversi, molto divertenti ma rumorosi, siamo approdati a la Casa del poeta. Un piccolo paradiso in stile coloniale, situato nel cuore di S.Antonio, dove abbiamo goduto del suo patio-giardino immerso nel verde e delle attenzioni della famiglia dei proprietari.
(Interessante: al primo ostello nelle raccomandazioni iniziali, ci hanno proibido di entrare con alcolici, armi e droga.. quando si dice lo stereotipo!)
Dobbiamo essere sinceri abbiamo visto poco – anche perché poco c'è da vedere qui!, ci siamo concentrati sul ballo: abbiamo scelto una scuola di salsa, 'Salsa viva y Tango vivo', dopo averne visitate 5. Qui abbiamo fatto 10 ore di lezione privata con Erica, la paziente e dolcissima profe. In quasi 10 giorni a Cali abbiamo dato una bella smazzata alla burocrazia di ogni continente e cercato di andare a ballare quasi tutte le sere.
Lo stile colombiano e' super veloce e la percentuale di 'negritos' e mulatti qui a Cali rende lo stile caleño ancora più caldo e sensuale. Un livello tra il divino e l'impossibile, a cui noi possiamo solo aspirare in un'altra vita.
Siamo stati alla serata di chiusura del Festival internazionale del balletto al teatro all'aria libera Los Cristales; c'erano anche due ballerini della compagnia di ballo del San Carlo di Napoli mischiati tra domenicani, cubani e tedeschi. Spassosissimo il finale quando tutti i ballerini hanno improvvisato una salsa ballando con tutù e calzamaglie. Niente da fare ce l'hanno nel sangue: si balla salsa anche con il tutù!
Colombia – Cali, la salsera Cali is the capital of salsa in Colombia. This is why we are here, we consider this a little bit like Lourdes.. the miracle might happen! We lived in San Antonio, the only 'barrio' (neighborhood) that maintains the colonial style in the city. After the first few nights in two different hostels, very fun but noisy, we landed in Casa del Poeta. A little paradise in colonial style, located in the heart of San Antonio, where we enjoyed its patio-garden and the attentions of the family owner.
(Interesting: at the first hostel within the initial recommendations, we have been told not to get in with alcohol, weapons and drugs.. when you say the stereotype!)
We have to be honest we haven't seen much – well there is little to see here!, we focused on dancing: we chose a salsa school, 'Salsa viva y Tango vivo', after having visited other 5. Here we did 10 hours private classes with Erica, our patient and super sweet profe. In almost 10 days in Cali we gave a nice bash to the bureaucracy of each continent and tried to go dancing almost every night.
The salsa's Colombian style is super fast and the percentage of 'Negritos' andmulattos here makes the Calenos style even more warm and sensual. A level between the divine and the impossible, that we can only aspire in another life.
We were at the closing night of the International Festival of Ballet at the open air theatre of Los Cristales; there were two dancers of the dance company of the San Carlo in Naples mixed among Dominicans, Cubans and Germans. Hilarious the finale, when all dancers have improvised a salsa, dancing with tutu and tights.
No chance, this is in their blood: they dance salsa even with the tutu!
